I have dedication, period. Today I was able to get a ride to school. I could of taken my time to get ready, had a nice breakfast.. even sleep a little longer if I wanted to. But the dedication I have is vast, maybe even colossal! I denied the offer of a ride to class, I marched the half mile in the freezing cold to my bus stop.. I got on that bus so I could have a story to blog about. Dedication- that is what I have for you, readers of my blog. DEDICATION.
Ethan Rides the Bus
I ride the bus. These are my stories.
Ethan Rides the Bus Because..
October 22, 2010 was a normal day.. A fun day as I headed up to Seattle, going to Nordstrom for lunch and enjoying some "me" time. On my way home (randle home) I was driving on the freeway (i'm not sure what freeway) when my fingers and toes went tingly.. After a few minutes my heart was racing and it was hard to breathe, I blacked out and had a seizure causing me to wreck. After going to the hospital and multiple trips to the Neurologist, I am fine.. well physically, mentally my ego is a little bruised- thats a personal matter though.
Something most people do not know is if you have a seizure or "episode" such as mine you lose your license for a minimum of six months. I will be licenseless until (the earliest) April 22, 2011.
This is why I take Public Transit.
Hence-
Ethan Rides the Bus.
Dont judge me. _________________________________________

Mild Case of the Itchies
Is it possible to get scabies via jackets? A lady who was very itchy sat next to me. Her jacket had a lot of dandruff and white dust all over it. I tried not to let her touch me. Unfortunately I was wearing a fleece North Face, which is sticky to stray dust and hair. I hope I don’t get scabies, or lice.. What if I get crabs?
Run.. Lady run!
Movies always show people running after the bus. You always see people trying to flag down the bus sometimes going so far to pound on the side and windows. Just in movies, right? Wrong. Everyday I see someone running late, running to get to the bus trying to flag it down so the driver will see them and stop. They see you- they just don’t care. I have caught multiple drivers make eye contact with someone who is flagging the bus down.. The driver doesn’t care- they hit the gas and keep going. As far as the pounding on the window, that has happened once. The person hit the side of the bus twice and the window once. The last thing I heard was a yell and a few words that I will not repeat. Toad lady laughed then we were off to the next stop.
February 2, 2011
This morning the 64B 9:35AM to Downtown Olympia was full. I had my Starbucks and had to stand in the front of the bus. Thomas, the Puerto Rican driver was driving this morning. My favorite driver was also on the bus going to the shed where they keep all the buses. Unfortunately the homophobic driver was also on the bus standing across from. I could feel her staring at me but I was an eyesore today, spray tanned and looked crazy orange. I wanted to sit but only person that was sitting by alone was the man with a musty jacket and skin discoloration. I couldn’t do it. Thankfully we got to the Downtown Transit Center where most people got off. I was now sitting across from the big dancing lady who doesn’t have earphones in her ears.. or music.. she just dances to imaginary songs. I figure it’s the crack singing to her.
Toad Lady
Today Frog lady drooled on the arm thing for the front seat. She won’t ever sit in the back of the bus or even middle. Always the front. Always on the 62B 9:17AM and always gets off at the Heritage bank. She deposits her $33 check every morning. She races from the bank to Lacey Transit Center to get on the 64A 9:35AM to Downtown Olympia, and gets off at the sixth stop, not sure where she goes after that. She is very nice, but occasionally yells at the driver. Not sure why. One of my favorite fellow Public Transit riders.
Lesson #1
Lessons are everywhere. Studies show that people learn 5 life lessons every day that will stick with you for your entire life (National Enquirer- for you kells).
Here is one of your life lessons for Public Transit:
Always have-
A. an Ipod
You never want to be ipodless- people will talk to you they enjoy talking to anyone who will listen. My first day I heard four life stories (I was Ipodless). I have also heard things that I can’t stop picturing in my mind- as momma bob always says- “things you can’t un-see”.
B. something to read (or enjoy looking out the window)
NEVER make eye contact. You will feel the heavy weight of people staring and want to look at them, DON’T. They will get angry or they will start talking to you and never leave you alone. Ipod or no ipod, if you make eye contact be ready to run or get an ear full. That’s why you will want something to read, cosmopolitan isn’t a good magazine because that is what “yuppies” read and they will be rude about it. Maybe a book, or like I said in these things > ( ), enjoy looking out the window because that is all you will be doing.
C. Cell phone
Bus routes change, some runs don’t work on Sundays and sometimes you will get somewhere with no bus leaving that place again. Or you will get off at the wrong stop and find yourself hiking four miles. Always be prepared.
Follow this and your Public Transit expedition should be peaceful.

Murder she wrote
Bus driver for the 44B route is Christopher aka nerd driver. His dream is obviously to be a pilot.
"Thank you for riding Public Transit, this is the 44B first arriving at the court house, then SPSCC..."
Only driver I have had that explains where the stops are and where to exit the bus. I don't mind him, he just creeps me out a little.. He looks like the murderer neighbor guy on Lovely Bones. Wears gloves with holes where the fingers go. And stares. But he is polite and says hi to everyone. He is my third favorite driver.
