Ethan Rides the Bus Because..

October 22, 2010 was a normal day.. A fun day as I headed up to Seattle, going to Nordstrom for lunch and enjoying some "me" time. On my way home (randle home) I was driving on the freeway (i'm not sure what freeway) when my fingers and toes went tingly.. After a few minutes my heart was racing and it was hard to breathe, I blacked out and had a seizure causing me to wreck. After going to the hospital and multiple trips to the Neurologist, I am fine.. well physically, mentally my ego is a little bruised- thats a personal matter though.

Something most people do not know is if you have a seizure or "episode" such as mine you lose your license for a minimum of six months. I will be licenseless until (the earliest) April 22, 2011.
This is why I take Public Transit.

Hence-

Ethan Rides the Bus.

Murder she wrote

Bus driver for the 44B route is Christopher aka nerd driver. His dream is obviously to be a pilot.
"Thank you for riding Public Transit, this is the 44B first arriving at the court house, then SPSCC..."
Only driver I have had that explains where the stops are and where to exit the bus. I don't mind him, he just creeps me out a little.. He looks like the murderer neighbor guy on Lovely Bones. Wears gloves with holes where the fingers go. And stares. But he is polite and says hi to everyone. He is my third favorite driver.

cellular Devices

Cell phones are just now becoming popular for the bus people. Pretending to talk on the phone is a re-occurrence. Always the same people always the same conversation.

"HI"
"Yeah"
"Mhmm"
"Ohhh.. Okay"
"Yeah"
"Mhmm"
"Yeah"
"Yeah"
"Okay"
"Yeah"
"Bye"
Hang up.

Two minutes later
"HI"
"Mhmm"
"Yeah"
"K,Bye"

One man is more creative and talks about monster truck shows. At least his conversations are original.

This morning I was almost late for the bus. I was halfway to my stop when I realized I was wearing my white Pumas instead of the blue plaid Sperrys. I was anxious after the realization so I had to turn around. Ran all the way back to the apartment and all the way to the bus stop. Probably lost three pounds this morning from that jog.

My bus boyfriend is on today. He works at an auto repair shop on Martin Way.
He's not Australian but he looks good in his work wear.
China man who sings songs on demand is also on, with his cute little person cane and a smile for everyone.
Man who runs everywhere is also on, still not nice.
I smell unions and ketchup, but I'm pretending I don't.
The girl next to me is wearing a foe mink coat, I like her just not the jacket.

Old People

Majority of the people that use public transit are older people. They even have their own seating section, along with the physically handicapped people. But one thing I love about the old people that ride the bus is they always act like they know each other. Every single time I'm on the bus the old people are talking away to each other like they have been best friends for years. They have one thing in common at all times- they are old, and it’s always a conversation starter.
Old man: "Are those real?"
another old man: "What?"
old man: "you know.."
another old man: "noo.. I don't."
old man: "your knees, your knees, are they real?"
another old man: "nope, just got the left one done"

Love the old people.

January 27, 2011

I am not a doctor but my diagnosis for the lady sitting across from is trets.. Not sure if that’s really what she has, but the blurting and talking to herself really gives me that vibe.... She isn't the "normal" tretty type I have had encounters with.. She is a more classy type. The trets guy usually says "the bitch is dead" or "so f****** glad she is F****** dead".. This trets lady speaks in more of a poetic style.
"I wonder what position she is in to make that determination"
"People around me tore my life and family apart"
"Nurture the pain, nurture the pain, thank you very much"
"Now it can heal"
"Once in a lifetime crossing of paths"
Turns around and looks at the girl sitting in the seat behind her "Thank you for your heart"
"Why would anyone choose to do that?"
"It’s cruel, very cruel"
"Inspire warmth"
Turns and looks at the same girl "Is this being reported?"
As I got off the bus I double checked for a Bluetooth, sadly there wasn't.
I feel bad for the poor lady, obviously a rough life and high anxiety.

Hold your breath.

This morning I decided to take the 8:47 bus instead of the 9:17 so I could make my routine stop to Starbucks (which happens to be next to Lacey Transit Center) and be a little early to school so I could visit before English. Getting on at my stop, I had running autistic man join me, trooping all the way to the covered bus stop back pack in hand and wind blowing through his three hairs on his shiny bald but greasy head. He is not a very nice man, and very pushy.
Bus was full this AM, and was surprised when I realized EVERYONE was looking in my direction to watch the gay get on the bus. Am I an eyesore or just so cute they have to look? My guess is they aren’t use to seeing a boy with designer everything. But who knows. As we arrived to the LTC (Lacey Transit Center) I headed off to get my coffee and onto the 9:05 bus to Downtown Olympia. Another full bus, this time so full I had to stand in front, about tipping over every corner and every stop. The interesting bus driver who announced our arrivals like he was an airplane pilot, the trets man talking to himself sitting next to the pretty Asian lady, the man and wife who had matching jackets, and the guy that got chewed out by the pilot for dropping the bike rack, were all distractions as I was trying to read my book (the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls).  Couldn’t of been more thankful to arrive at SPSCC not only because the big man that smells bad and the alcoholic man were too close for comfortable breathing, but because the man who sat behind me had his dirty fingers on my white NF. Bitch.

Previous Postings off of Facebook

FACEBOOK POSTINGS:
The bus is quite rowdy today. Between the girl pretending to talk on her cell, the lady that looks like a toad chatting with the woman who doesn't care, and the man that sings Chinese songs on demand. Not to mention the man that thinks he is the co-pilot to the bus driver whose name is Richard but the lady with purple pants calls him Steven. I guess I will just sit here listening to the old man rhyme about ducks.

The day the Neurologist said I can get my license back (April 22nd, 2011) can’t arrive quickly enough. Between the man chewing me out for too much Abercrombie cologne, the three girls purposely stinking up the bus (yes, with their gastro intestinal activity), the racist bus driver and the man that was arrested sitting in the seat in front of me.. Scarred? Yes. Please add mace and a guard dog to my Christmas list.

I am trying to be a nonjudgmental person. The girl sitting next to me this morning made my “no judging streak” pretty difficult to stick with. The staring and itching of the inner thigh was a little disturbing. In my head- "she is a human, do not judge (repeating)" then she touched my shoulder, that was the end of that life lesson, but beginning of a new one. Girl on the bus, you are a creeper.

Right when I start thinking to myself "gosh Ethan, you sure are getting good at this public transit thing" I of course make the mistake of getting off at the wrong bus stop, nowhere near the correct location. Two and a half hours, a blister on my right heel and a fear of black trucks later, I stumble onto the walk way of home with a new respect for the black uggs and even more hatred for the damn bus.

This is my bus. The drivers name is charlie and he is very nice. I have a boy asking me for a dollar and all I have is my debit card. The lady behind me smiled when she passed. I am the second youngest and I don't like the bus.

I now understand why Rosa Parks didn't want to sit in the back of the bus. Between itchy skin charles and pick his nose stewart, I don't want to sit here either.

Today's bus aroma consists of alcohol, cigarettes, and dish soap. Oh how delightful.

My Position if you were wondering.

Every morning as I get on the bus I walk straight to my favorite section to sit..
Not in the very front or the very back. or even the very middle.. I prefer to sit towards the back of the middle.
                                   O                   BUS                        O
            Front>         EYEEEEEEEEEEEEEYEEEEEEEEE3         <Back
                                 EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*EEEEE3
                                   O                                        ^         O
                                                                             Me hehe

Why?
There are creepers in the back, and old old people in the front.
There are doors that open in the front and middle that blow cold air.
There is a heater under the fourth seat in the back.

This is why I am so freakin smart.
